| Do you use laser surgery? |
For more than 13 years we have done multiple investigations concerning the medical equipment that uses laser rays. We have also received many courses and known a great variety of equipments and their manufacturers. Up to now, none of them has fulfilled our expectations for improvements through laser rays over those we give through surgery. There is no laser ray treatment that overrides our treatments, if one existed we would employ it.
The last course on laser ray treatments was on the 48th Congress of the French Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Society on its 50th anniversary in Paris on November 2003. It is concluded that the concept of laser ray treatment has very limited indications in Plastic Surgery and some surgeons use the success this treatment has had in other specialities to give the impression that it is a “marvel”. This is completely false in our speciality, and provokes, among other things, permanent changes on skin coloring.

To receive an estimate for your case, we ask you to send us photographs under the format JPG, front face and both profiles. In this way, the surgeon is able to evaluate each case and define the most adequate treatment and budget for your surgery. It is important to include further data such as: age, weight, other surgeries performed, sicknesses, etc. and which are the parts of your face you would like to modify or improve through Plastic Surgery.

| I am interested in augmenting my breasts, how do you do this? |
A surgery for breast augmentation needs a special material called breast prostheses or breast implants. They are compatible with human tissues and they permit very good results, according to the individual conditions of each patient. There exist many variables: models, shapes, sizes and consistencies. They are defined according to each patient’s needs.

| Are injections effective for increasing volume on my buttocks? |
You must not submit yourself to any buttock treatment that involves injections. The only thing that is safe and effective is the use of prostheses by a Plastic Surgeon that shape and augment the buttock

| I would like more information about wrinkle eliminating treatments with biocompatible products without surgery. |
At the present time, there exist many biocompatible products for injection and implantation, which improve small details produced by the natural aging process.
These products have different grades of tolerance and duration. They are toxins that produce a temporary muscular paralysis, with which the function of the facial muscles is diminished and thus, expression wrinkles are reduced temporarily. These are partial treatments that do not last, furthermore their repeated use cause atrophies and with time the body may form antibodies against this toxin, which would diminish its effectiveness.
For all this, the Plastic Surgeon must treat each case individually to determine which method or technique is the most adequate.

| What are the pros and cons of liposuction? |
Liposuction, which we introduced in Costa Rica on the year 1982 after our formation with Professor Roger Mouly and created by Dr. Ives Gerard Illouz in Paris, France on 1978, is a safe procedure to treat those parts of the body with excess fatty tissue that cannot be modified by diet or exercise. It should be understood that this is not a treatment for weight reduction, but to improve that which diet and exercise does not. For those that in spite of diet and exercise are not able to improve their silhouette, and if they are in good health , it is possible to help them through this method in order to stimulate the continuity of their healthy life style.
It is important to know that for this treatment to be effective it has to be performed with a correct technique, the adequate anesthesia and an appropriate period of recovery that will allow the body to return to its energetique equilibrium after its energy reserve (fatty tissue) has been diminished. No procedure should be performed without an appropriate health screening, nor should you let yourself be impressed by treatments said to be innocuous, done without anesthesia, scarless, and without recovery period. These kind of treatments, with all their propaganda have no durable results and their sequelae are difficult to treat due to the scars they leave.

| What kind of treatment do you use for hair elimination? |
For hair elimination we use microcoagulation with protected electrodes. During each session, between 70 to 90% of the treated hairs are eliminated. This is a medical treatment performed with local anesthesia, thus painless, and can be performed in all parts of the body and no matter the color or thickness of the hair. In each session there is a 70% guarantee of effectiveness.

Of course! Generally, these pains are related to the position the patients adopt in order to minimize their large breasts. We always try to satisfy the patient, for this it is very important that what he or she expects from the surgery is very clear. Our experience will tell him or her if it is possible and how it can be done. In every case, our patients receive pre-surgery models done over their own photographs that will give an idea of how they will look after the surgery.
